Rising Sun Institute is unique in its way of holding the credit of opening new avenues for parents and professionals. One big initiative taken by Rising sun was Early Intervention Program, which caters to the needs of children below 3 years of age.
Meerab Fatima was 3 months old when her parents came to Rising Sun. Meerab Fatima joined our early intervention program at the age of 3 months. She has started walking, very good in following one step directions and has two-word speech. Now, Meerab Fatima is 3 years old and catching her milestones, with a good pace.
Obstacles do not block the Path, they are the path!
“Allah makes the impossible, possible”, Our brilliant student Gulshan Khatoon is a personification of hard work and dedication. When she came to Rising Sun, she was 12 years old and had never been to a school before. She and her brother joined our section for visual impairment in 2011. Through individualized accelerated academic program, she learned Braille and moved from grade 1 to grade 8th in 2015. Coming from rural Sindh she was among the first girls of her family who completed her high school (matriculation) in flying colors. She aspires to become a special educationist in future.
“Crafting a Life”
Nazia had moderate hearing loss since birth. She grew up with visuals of her family waving things in her face to make her understand. Her parents brought her to Rising Sun Institute when she was 13. Here she started realizing her true potential. Nazia won gold and silver medals in basketball in India and Ireland and was also part of the winning cricket team. She was given vocational training in the areas of wood work and stitching. Because of her hardwork, dedication and expertise, Nazia was employed as a teacher by RSI in 2010. Today she is a happily married and is helping other children with special needs realize their dreams.
“Weaver of Dreams”
Waqas Ali was diagnosed with cerebral palsy and moderate intellectual disability when he came to RSI in 2003. His teachers quickly implemented a specially tailored plan to polish his skills. He showed a keen interest in weaving. His passion soon enabled him to gain enough expertise to be made a teacher in 2004. He received 6 months training from Sapphire Textiles as well. His skills do not stop here, he has also represented Pakistan in China as a member of the basketball team. Waqas is a highly regarded mentor for his students.
“Carving his Future”
Imran was 12 when he came to RSI. He had mild intellectual disability, hearing impairment and physical deformity. His family had given up on him because of his stubbornness. His teachers saw potential where his family saw problems. It took seven years of resilience to help him overcome his stubbornness and lack of confidence. He is a good sportsman and has represented Pakistan internationally. Vocationally he showed inclination towards wood work and stitching. Teaching aids made by him are used by RSI instructors. Today Imran is employed by RSI as a teacher and is proud father of a toddler
DISABILITY – “Turning Disabilities into Abilities”
Qurat ul ain has hearing impairment. However, her abilities far outweigh her limitations. She came to RSI in 2009. Her teachers saw she had an interest in silk painting. They helped polish her skills and within a span of 2 years she was appointed as teacher at RSI. She is also an expert badminton player winning silver medal in China in 2011 and gold medal in Australia in 2013. She is a valuable asset for RSI helping other students change their disabilities into abilities.
