Inclusive Education Project

Inclusive education is based on the principle that every child has the right to education and should be provided with all the facilities of education in his/her nearest school. Inclusion is about school change to improve the educational system for all students. It means changes in the curriculum, changes in how teachers teach and how students learn, as well as changes in how students with and without special needs interact with and relate to one another.

Rising Sun Education & Welfare Society (RSE&WS) has the experience of teaching and training special needs children since 1984. RSE&WS took up the initiative to play its role in the promotion of inclusive education. RSE&WS trained regular school teachers in special needs and inclusive education in 2009 for the first time. Till date, we have trained 1415 regular school teachers from the province of Punjab, Balochistan, Khaiberpakhtunkhua and Azad Kashmir.

In the year 2015 – 16 RSE&WS has trained 70 trainers under its Training of Trainer (TOT) project. 60 trainers were from our partner organizations (Ghazali Education Trust, Dar-e-Arqam Foundation, Allied School System, Child Care Foundation) and 10 were from Directorate of Special Education, Govt. of Punjab. We have set up 24 Special Needs Support Rooms in selected schools of central and south Punjab. Through these SN Support Rooms, experts from RSE&WS will provide online guidance and counseling to teachers and parents of children with educational problems.
