Its beauty, its fragrance and the feel of freshness benefits others while the flower, itself, never enjoys any pleasure of its own. Rising Sun Institute was started with this perceptive as an informal daycare center for a Down’s syndrome child Fatima Ejaz from the dinning room of its founders, Dr. & Mrs. Abdul Tawwab at Nisar Colony Lahore Cantt in September 1984. Rising Sun Institute was started with this perceptive as an informal daycare center for a Down’s syndrome child Fatima Ejaz from the dinning room of its founders, Dr. & Mrs. Abdul Tawwab at Nisar Colony Lahore Cantt in September 1984.   • The humble start with 2 children from the Dining Room Mr. & Mrs. Dr. Abdul Tawwab in 1984 & establishment of Rising Sun Education & Welfare Society
  • Registration with the Department of Special Education of the Govt. of Punjab in Jan 1987
  • Formal registration of Rising Sun Education & Welfare Society with Department of Social Welfare Govt. of Punjab in1995
  • Tax exemption approval from Central Board of Revenue (CBR) in 1996
  • Affiliation with Punjab Welfare Trust for the Disabled in 1997
  • Temporary shifting of the campus from Nisar Colony, Lahore Cantt, (Dr. Abdul Tawwab’s Residence) to 11-A, DHA in October 1999
  • Commencement of Mughalpura Campus to cater the needs of Northern part of underprivileged locality of Lahore in 2003
  • Certification from Pakistan Center for Philanthropy in 2005
  • Joint certification from Agha Khan Foundation & USAID in 2006
  • Shifting to the new purpose built campus in DHA  with development of state of the art facilities for training, education and rehabilitation for Special Children in 2007
  • Allotment of a 10 Marla plot to Rising Sun Education & Welfare Society by Lt. Get. Shafaat Ullah Shah in 2008.
  • Establishment of Inclusive Education Courses for Regular Schools’ Teachers in 2009 & trained 490 regular school teachers from AJK, KPK, Baluchistan and Punjab.
  • Training of 750 teachers from urban and rural areas of Punjab for Inclusive Education Program 2012
  • With kind courtesy of Commander 4 Corps Lt. Gen. Rashid Mahmood, Defence campus building was upgraded (construction of 2nd floor) 2012 to become a 4 story building, with additional facility for staff training, capacity building, research & development and training facility for regular school teachers in special need inclusive education.
  • One Kanal plot of land donated to RSE&WS by Mian Muhammad Tahir Javed in Punjab Cooperative Housing Society (PCHS) for the construction of an inclusive school (both for regular and special children), construction will be started soon. The efforts of Col (R) Saleem Raza Khan General Secretary of RSE&WS, Dr. Muhammad Aslam Bhatti, Ch. Sharafat Ali General Secretary and Mr. Sajawal Finance Secretary of PCHS are commendable

      Fatima Ijaz was the first child for whom the  “Dining Room School” was started in 1984. A Down’s Syndrome child Fatima Ijaz was just  6 years old. She is 31 years old now.

Rising Sun Reaches Mount Everest !

Two volunteers Mr. Kaven Hansen from Canada and Mr. Mudassir Nazir from Pakistan, have under taken trekking expedition to Mount Everest to promote the cause of Special Children of Rising Sun, co-ordinated  by Rao Osamah Saleem Khan, ,First  Finance Secretary of Rising Sun Education & Welfare Society.
